“Brat Camp” Revisited!

PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE

American Wilderness Programme set up business in the UK

Large groups of teenagers “binge” drinking on the street corner, hoards of youths wandering around shopping centres with nothing to do……is this the acceptable face of today’s young people…..or is there an alternative?

Worried Parents of Britain’s “troubled teenagers” are spending hours searching the Internet to find a radical solution to prevent their offspring spiralling out of control, and with no solution available in the UK……all roads lead back to “Brat Camp”.

Demand for places on “Wilderness” programmes, delivered in the USA, is so great that one leading provider has enlisted the support of a newly created company, based in the North East to handle all UK enquiries and admissions. RedCliff Ascent, which featured in the original “Brat Camp” TV series, has formed an exclusive partnership with Newcastle based Teen Growing Pains to handle it’s affairs in this Country.

Teen Growing Pains has been licensed by RedCliff Ascent to be its sole agent in the UK. The mission is to bring awareness of the therapeutic wilderness programmes closer to target consumers in the UK. As well as providing a British base, Teen Growing Pains staff have been fully trained in all aspects of the RedCliff culture. RedCliff Ascent are a major player in the USA and have looked at reproducing the experience in a UK based environment. It proved impossible to replicate the life changing journey in this Country, when there are 650 square miles of desert on offer in the USA. As travel costs to the States are relatively cheap it was decided to market the services in the UK with a UK provider but deliver the fulfilment of the programme in America.

Typically “students” embark upon the journey of a lifetime, with their Parents enrolling them on a 3 month Therapeutic Wilderness Programme. They can expect a tough but rewarding experience, based in 650sq miles of Utah desert. Fully supervised, and supported throughout by a team of professional therapists - even the hardest of kids show remarkable improvements.

Commenting on this relationship, Graham Cook – Admissions Director at http://www.teengrowingpains.co.uk said “We are delighted by the initial response we have received from UK families, many of whom are in crisis….. we are receiving large numbers of new calls each week from Parents whose kids are out totally of control. For many families home is not a very pleasant place to be!”

“Our partners at RedCliff have years of experience in dealing with adolescents who have issues ranging from depression, anger and verbal abuse, right through to kids who are in a desperate state due to alcohol, solvents or drug abuse. Most kids have been excluded from school and Parents are turning to us as a last resort”

These USA based programmes were sensationalised by the “Brat Camp” TV series, where conflict and non-compliance were highlighted, however, little focus was given to the “high end” psychological and therapeutic approach - which has now given RedCliff world acclaim.

Local Education Authorities and Social Services spend up to £100,000 per problem child in their care.

The relatively minor cost of £15,000 on a programme which delivers provable results would seem to be attractive. Unfortunately internal budgetary disputes together with a reluctance to think outside of the box prevent many public bodies from considering programmes based outside the UK. “Its about time our Social Service professionals stopped pouring money into the same ineffective channels and tried a proven programme” said Graham Cook
